Scarlet Firethorn

(Red Column)
Description:
It’s a semi-evergreen shrub growing up to 2 m high. Flowers that appear in late May and June are small and white, grouped in canopy-shaped blossoms. The blooms do not have decorative properties.

Scarlet Firethorn (Red Column) is the most impressive when fruit appears in place of flowers. The fruit is similar to rowanberries, but a bit smaller. The brush fruits in September and the fruit is so abundant that it covers the plant so it looks like it was on fire (thus the name: firethorn).

Firethorn is quite easy to cultivate. It can grow in sunny and semi-shady spots, it grows faster and fruits better in sunny areas though.
